Good Friday “Misteri” Procession – Trapani

Trapani Good Friday Procession

Where: Historic center of Trapani, Sicily

When: 2:00 PM on Good Friday and continues for many hours (some parts extend into Saturday)

Cost: Free and open to the public

One of the longest and most dramatic Good Friday processions in Europe takes place in Trapani. The Processione dei Misteri lasts up to 24 hours, featuring life-sized wooden sculptures carried through the streets by local guilds.

What You’ll See

  • Twenty life-sized wooden sculpture groups (“Misteri”) depicting scenes from the Passion of Christ

  • Local guilds and confraternities dressed in traditional attire carrying the statues on their shoulders

  • Slow, solemn marching accompanied by funeral-style band music

  • Candlelit streets and thousands of spectators lining the route

The atmosphere is deeply moving—somber music, candlelight, and the slow rhythm of the procession create a profound spiritual experience. For our clients, it feels like stepping into another century.

Plan Your Visit: Join in the celebrations, explore the historic route from Via Atenea to Porta Addolorata, and experience Agrigento’s heart and history.
