One of the longest and most dramatic Good Friday processions in Europe takes place in Trapani. The Processione dei Misteri lasts up to 24 hours, featuring life-sized wooden sculptures carried through the streets by local guilds.
What You’ll See
-
Twenty life-sized wooden sculpture groups (“Misteri”) depicting scenes from the Passion of Christ
-
Local guilds and confraternities dressed in traditional attire carrying the statues on their shoulders
-
Slow, solemn marching accompanied by funeral-style band music
-
Candlelit streets and thousands of spectators lining the route
The atmosphere is deeply moving—somber music, candlelight, and the slow rhythm of the procession create a profound spiritual experience. For our clients, it feels like stepping into another century.
